My current project was based on a 'human horror' theme, I looked briefly at serial killings, rape and the mentally disturbed but found that looking at child beauty pageants more inspiring. I began looking at child stars such as Lindsay lohan and how the fame had, had a detrimental effect on her life and mental state. I used ripping effects to show how the fame had ripped her life, and i experimented with merging her face from childhood with the face of her now in sexual photo shoots. Whilst looking at the abuse that children are put through I came across a few 'Banardo's' adverts that although shocking, they were inspiring. The way the lighting was blueish and used alot of naked daylight gave a mournful atmosphere to the ads. The adverts reminded me alot of the work of Hellen Von Meene, whose photographs depicted children in home environments that weren't quite right whether it be a lack of furniture or a broken curtain, and they all featured a depressed looking child, and the same blueish/ green tinge in the lighting. Using these photos as inspiration I produced my own shoot with my sister, I thought over-exposure would be a good technique to experiment with and I tried to style it to be as though it was a child experimenting with clothes that she had found in her mothers closet but not in a sexual or perverse way, I wanted it to have an air of innocence and child contemplation. After the Bernardo's adverts I was keen to experiment with a 4D outcome, I had recently heard the score for a cover of a Kings of Leon song and it gave me inspiration. I envisioned a girl bored at home who decided to go on a walk in the woods, she is dressed for the indoors though so her clothes snag and get muddy and she is climbing, running and jumping, it would be almost like a journey through the girls innocence and her exploration and eventual contemplation.
A short stab at fashion film in a nostalgic and innocent manner.
I hope you like it :)
